Understanding Services

A service represents the specific work your business does for customers. Services, along with Requests and Prospects, form the foundation of your Quote Cactus workflow, enabling you to maintain a comprehensive catalog of your offerings with detailed information about each one.

Each service can be attached to requests, estimates, and quotes, providing consistency across your sales process.

Adding New Services

Multiple Entry Points

There are several ways to add new services:

Services page – Click the “New service” link
From an estimate or quote – Click the “+” icon next to the service select element

Service Information

To create a new service, you’ll need to provide the following details:

Name – Clear, descriptive title for the service
Description – Detailed explanation of what the service includes
Default pricing unit – The standard unit for pricing this service

Optional Pricing Options

Quote Cactus supports multiple pricing structures to accommodate different service types:

Per hour price – Hourly rate for time-based services
Per minute price – Minute-based pricing for shorter duration services
Per foot price – Linear measurement pricing for applicable services
Per square foot price – Area-based pricing for coverage services
Custom pricing unit – Define your unit (example: per day, per project)

New service form – Enter service name, description, default pricing unit, and configure optional pricing options, including hourly, per-foot, and custom rates.

Tip: Consider which pricing units best match your service delivery model. You can configure multiple pricing options for the same service to provide flexibility during quote creation.

Viewing All Services

Services Page Overview

The Services page provides a comprehensive view of your complete service catalog with sorting options:

Sort by date created – View services chronologically
Sort by name – Alphabetical organization of service offerings

Managing Individual Services

Service Details

Each service page allows you to view and update all service information. The platform maintains complete service records while providing easy access to modify details as your business evolves.

Updating Service Information

You can modify any service details, including name, description, and pricing units. Updates apply to future quotes and estimates, while existing quotes maintain their original service information for consistency.

Service Deletion

Services can be deleted when your business no longer offers them. The platform handles this process while preserving data integrity for existing quotes and estimates that reference the deleted service.
